Research Methods & Topics I (CMPT 880)

Research Methods & Topics I offers different methods and paradigms that can be used during the research process, and, furthermore, provides better understanding of the important points in the development of a particular study. Another goal of the course is to promote students' communication and presentation skills. The class ends with a Departmental Symposium where all students present their work to the Computer Science Department.

The main focus of the class is on the following topics:
- Scientific methods in Computer Science;
- Literature review;
- How to find sources;
- Evaluating solutions;
- Research ethics;
- Communicating research;
- Others.
